Who are we?
SCALE Nanotech is a pioneering deep-tech startup, founded by Dr. Santiago Cartamil-Bueno, that emerges from his research on nanotechnology and the unique properties of graphene. By leveraging the digital leadership of Estonia, we provide R&D and consulting services while developing our core photonics hardware in our lab in Spain. We offer our expertise on advanced nanomaterials, microdevices and system components by means of simulations, design, in-situ fabrication, experiment realization, project management and business development. Clients that require nanotech solutions benefit from our knowledge of thin-film materials (including graphene and other 2D materials), microdevices (MEMS, optical sensors), instrumentation (electronics, lasers, microscopy) and extreme environments (high-vacuum, cryogenics, microgravity).

The company is headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia, and operates through the Estonian e-Residency program, allowing it to run a modular and resilient European business while maintaining research and development operations in Valencia, Spain. This dual presence has given SCALE Nanotech the flexibility to tap into global talent and collaborate with leading European research centers and partners.
A notable achievement for SCALE Nanotech is its leadership in the MEGAMORPH project, part of the ATTRACT initiative, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program, with €2 million in funding. MEGAMORPH focuses on developing graphene-based holographic displays in collaboration with top European partners like Graphenea, Morphotonics, CIN-ergy, and VividQ. This project aims to bring these revolutionary displays to the market by 2025, marking a major leap in the evolution of AR/VR display technologies.
By combining cutting-edge research with practical applications, SCALE Nanotech goes beyond innovation in displays, telecommunications, and microelectronics, by commercializing our breakthrough GMOD® technology positioned to transform multiple industries and markets.
